Brand Identity design
Auberge du Chocolat is an artisan family business near London, led by husband and wife team Ian and Anne Scott and their son Jonathan, creating hand-made, premium luxury chocolates, fudges and ice cream, made from the highest quality ingredients and characterized by innovative flavour combinations. They are regular winners of Academy of Chocolate and Great Taste awards.
Sales were generated online and from the company’s two retail outlets. Engagement with consumers was endorsed through word-of-mouth recommendation.
Future development would be inhibited without a recognizable brand presence so, after referral from the Design Council and wining a credentials pitch, pmdc was enlisted to develop branding and packaging.
What we did
Taking inspiration from Auberge chocolates, pmdc’s logo design embodies traditional craft values within a contemporary interpretation. The classical formality of the brand name is brought into a modern context by the unconventionally positioned ‘a’-shaped heart device that delivers an unexpectedly casual lightness.
By developing the heart device to become a window, we provided distinction and shelf presence for a range of cost-effective packaging formats.
